A globally recognised UK OEM are looking for a Head of Programme Sourcing to establish and develop an effective Programme Sourcing function that provides focus on supplier and supply chain management during the development of new vehicle programmes.

The Role

The Head of Programme Sourcing will provide a single point of accountability for the performance of the Programme Sourcing group in terms of the purchasing input to the new product development process.
You will manage Design to Cost activity (as well as Design for function etc) and Effective supplier management during concept.
The Head of Programme Sourcing will establish and develop a category management team with responsibility for all direct materials.
Working in conjunction with the Group Purchasing and Supply Chain Director, other departments and procurement functional heads in order to ensure collaboration within the different procurement functions and across the wider enterprise
The Head of Programme Sourcing will establish close links to the Engineering and vehicle development teams in order to ensure a collaborative and cost focused approach to new product development. Ensuring that category strategies are effectively applied within the NPD process
Establishing efficient and effective purchasing processes and ways of working that ensures a focus on delivery and a standardised approach
The Head of Programme Sourcing will establish effective internal and external communications that facilitate an open and transparent operating culture within the function
Responsible for the ongoing training and development programme for members of the category teams
Deputise for the Group Supply Chain Director where required

The Candidate

Graduate calibre, preferably with a technical degree, supplemented by a business degree e.g. MBA. Candidates should have significant experience in senior commercial / Purchasing roles within multi site, multi region, multi cultural, manufacturing based organisations
Has knowledge and experience of setting up and managing e-procurement activity e.g. reverse auctions eRFi`s, eRFQ`s etc
Good negotiation, and excellent communication, relationship building and stakeholder buy-in skills.
Strong organizational skills to manage cost, change and general transactional activities.
Team player and with strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent management experience, including building a team and developing team members.
Ability to manage cost portfolio, driving lowest cost solutions back through design phases and change management to maintain targets.
