Omega Plc investing £20m in South Yorkshire

Omega Plc, a leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality fitted kitchens and furniture, is currently in the process of investing a total of £20m at its facility in Thorn, South Yorkshire. Inspired by the principles of great British craftsmanship and design, the manufacturer supplies British-made kitchens throughout the UK via a network of specialist retailers as well as to developers and house builders through Omega Contracts.

The firm announced a multi-million-pound investment and expansion plan for its plant, which will increase production capacity to over £125m over the next two years.

Omega will open the new 80,000 sq. ft./ 12m high manufacturing and warehouse facility later this year, taking the single site operation to a total of 400,000 sq. ft. Work on the expansion began in January and will be completed by October.

The £7.5m new build facility will also house additional storage and offices to assist the brand leader meet its increased production targets and growing demand for its kitchens from both the retail and contract sectors.

Omega has also announced a £12.5m investment in machinery for the new facility, working with global market leader Homag – one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of plant and machinery for the woodworking industry.

The strategic manufacturing partnership will see unparalleled investment in new machinery with the first of a series of new machines already having being installed at the plant.

The latest round of investment will also see Omega implementing two additional rigid assembly lines in the new manufacturing and warehouse facility. The bespoke rigid assembly lines have been specifically designed for Omega to assist the company to increase capacity in line with current and predicted future demand.

The investment plan has been specially devised by Homag to produce kitchen parts with the highest flexibility and productivity. The production line also includes one of the most modern drilling machines available in the market. Omega will also update its production systems with one of the most modern software solutions.
