An international market leading Abrasives company whose main office is based in the North of England have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Manager to join their site in Alfreton.

Reporting to the Head of Operations the primary purpose of the role is to organise and coordinate production and associated requirements taking into account legislative conditions, Company and Site Safety, Health, Environment and Quality policies and procedures. You will be required to manage the area team and operate a system on continuous improvement in line with company requirements. You will be a member of the Operations Management Team setting high standards supporting colleagues through leadership.

Your responsibilities within HSE will include conducting regular health and safety audits/inspections of individual areas ensuring safe systems of work are being complied with. You will implement and adhere to Bosch a Star and N93 standards. You will be expected to investigate serious accidents or incidents ensuring completion of corrective actions and attend Healthy and Safety committee meetings. Non-compliance of health and safety regulations will need to be managed via disciplinary procedures where it is deemed necessary. You will also have responsibility to ensure COSHH assessment work is maintained and up to date.

Within this role you will also have responsibilities that impact the business. You will monitor and report performance in monthly reports taking full account of legislation, internal emission and cost control. Ensure all areas have support via cell leaders to operate individual units taking into account production, HSE and Quality. You will be required to work with production planning to meet product availability in accordance o the production plan. You will ensure all area units are maintained to correct standards and are developed in conjunction with R&D and be an active member of the Operations Management Team.

Your people management responsibilities will require you to complete line management duties. This involves mentorship and development of your team members and operatives. Communicating objectives, tasks and targets in regular meetings. You will assess departmental performance and highlight any training needs and rewards high performing employees via the company’s Personal Development Procedures.

The successful candidate for this position will have proven manufacturing management experience and be educated to degree level or equivalent. You will have proven lean manufacturing improvement experience and hold a NEBOSH certificate. A positive communicator who is a team player and customer focussed will be successful within this role.
