Due to growth and investment, a manufacturer of complex components & systems to the aerospace, defence and energy sectors has a new vacancy for a Sales Director to join its expanding plant in Devon. You will be responsible for leading the commercial activities by developing customer relationships, identifying future opportunities, contract negotiations and candidates are sought with a proven track record in a similar role and a hands-on approach maximising commercial opportunities.

The Role
The Sales Director will be responsible for developing and growing the existing customers base to maximise revenue as well as identifying new commercial opportunities.

Key responsibilities:
Act as main point of contact for key customers & account development
Identify potential opportunities for the company`s products & services, & secure business through those opportunities.
Strengthen business relationships with key customers.
Resolve contractual and commercial issues
Identify, manage and win avenues for profitable revenue growth
Be aware of new sector programs and technologies
Develop strategic customer accounts and cultivate new business opportunities
Ensure that all commercial activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume and efficiency targets

The Candidate
Due to this being a new appointment in the business and the need to work closely with the senior management team the role will be based on site at the plant, although a flexible working approach is encouraged. Candidates must have experience in a senior technical sales role with a demonstratable background in developing & maximising commercial opportunities. With a background in an engineering environment preference will be given to candidates with a good understanding of the aerospace & defence sectors although others will be considered including energy, marine and automotive.

With a hands-on approach and customer focused you will excellent negotiation skills, be commercially astute with an understanding of commercial law and you will have ideally worked in a large corporate environment.
