Growth continues for Oyster Yachts with 150 new jobs
Southampton-based luxury boat builder, Oyster Yachts, continues to go from strength to strength, as it embarks on a large recruitment drive to meet growing global demand for its bespoke sailing yachts.
By the end of February 2020, over 150 additional tradespeople will have been hired across Oyster’s shipyards in Southampton and Norfolk, bringing the total headcount to more than 420 people.
Laminators, boat builders, joiners, electricians and engineers are all in demand as the company works to service a full order book, with requests coming in from around the world.
This remarkable growth story highlights the scale of transformation that the business has undergone since it was bought by Richard Hadida in March 2018. The brand continues to take pride in supporting the local economies where it operates, investing in the skills of people in areas with a proud history of British shipbuilding.
Oyster owner and chief executive, Richard Hadida, said: “This represents a hugely exciting time for Oyster. It is wonderful to see the brand returned to its former glory, with a full order book and a dedicated team of people in Wroxham, Southampton and Ashmanhaugh building beautiful sailing yachts, using the best of British craftsmanship. We look forward to welcoming many more onboard in the coming months.”
