Branston launches recruitment drive following investment
Branston, one of the UK’s largest potato suppliers, has launched a recruitment drive at its prepared foods factory near Lincoln.
Branston currently employs around 800 people across its four factories nationwide. Following an increase in demand for its products, it is now looking for another 45 people to join its team. The new jobs announcement follows the company’s recent £6m extension at the Lincolnshire site, enabling it to produce a wider range of ready-to-cook vegetable products.
Branston handles 350,000 tonnes of potatoes every year and supplies some of the largest retail, wholesale and food manufacturing customers in the UK.
Tom Wykes, managing director at Branston Prepared, said: “We have an extremely committed and enthusiastic workforce here and enjoy seeing our people do well and progress. The food production industry is an important contributor to the UK’s business success, which we are proud to be a part of. We hope to find a number of new recruits to join us as we continue to invest in new technology and expanding our product range.”
Vikki Britton, factory operations manager, added: “My experience has really proved the more you put in, the more you get out when it comes to taking on a new job. Within the food industry, it’s not all about packing and mundane tasks – but it’s good to start there because you get an understanding of the whole process, which can then be applied to decision-making further along the line. The skills achieved here could give me or anyone else the potential to work in other industries, having a wealth of transferable skills and knowledge in your back pocket.”
Simon Telfer, Branston HR director, concluded: “These are exciting times as we continue to evolve to meet increasing demand, creating new opportunities for local people to come and be a part of our success. There are a range of roles available to join our talented team and we are looking for a wide range of skillsets. With our commitment to the training and development of our staff, working for Branston presents many great opportunities.”
Branston is keen to highlight the potential career progression opportunities that are available, with key members of the management team having worked their way up, including from the factory’s production lines.
