Green light for Siemens Mobility’s £100m Wiltshire factory

Siemens Mobility will move ahead with its £100m investment in a cutting-edge rail infrastructure, digital engineering, and research and development facility after receiving planning permission from Wiltshire County Council. Onsite construction will start early next year and will be carried out by British contractor Bowmer + Kirkland, who will bring their expertise in delivering industrial and commercial building projects.

The new facility will play a pivotal role in Siemens Mobility’s future projects to transform rail travel and transport in Britain. It will serve as a site to build the next generation of conventional, digital rail signalling and control systems. The investment is testament to Siemens Mobility’s continued commitment to Chippenham, home to around 800 colleagues and the town where the company has been shaping the future of rail signalling since 1897.
