Safran opens new engineering and support facilities in Gloucester
Safran Landing Systems has opened a new engineering and support centre as part of a three-phase investment project at its Gloucester site. The project included renovating existing facilities, constructing new buildings, and creating a showroom. The company says the investment underlines the Group’s ongoing commitment to technological innovation, environmental responsibility and a commitment to the UK.
An active recruitment policy accompanies these investments with the Gloucester site welcoming 204 new employees in 2024, particularly in machining and assembly roles. It has recruited 30 more since the beginning of this year and the site also promotes the development of young talent with around 100 apprentices, international business volunteers, and internships.
The Gloucester site, founded in 1937, is one of the world’s largest Safran Landing Systems sites and employs 1,200 people. The site supports strategic defence projects such as the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Global Air Combat Programme (GCAP). Safran Landing Systems is also partnering with ATI, Innovate UK, and the DBT to innovate new sustainable solutions for landing systems, contributing to the decarbonisation of aviation.
