Delkia opens 16,000 sq ft production centre in Merseyside

A new engineering production centre has opened in Haydock, near St Helens, as specialist engineering and technology company Delkia expands its operations into Merseyside.

The 16,000 sq ft manufacturing facility marks a major step for the British company, bringing new investment and job opportunities into the local area.

Delkia, which specialises in safety-related and mission-critical systems, has grown steadily since its beginning in 2013 in West Cumbria. Making the move to a larger facility was required this year to keep pace with its growing order book and accommodate complex, large-scale production.

The new production centre in Haydock brings Delkia’s manufacturing facilities and engineering labs into one specialist site – significantly increasing the company’s manufacturing capacity and supporting the next phase of growth for its skilled engineering team.

The centre specialises in the testing and assembly of power and propulsion systems, and expands Delkia’s ability to produce, store and work across varied projects for the aerospace, maritime and nuclear markets.

Kurt Canfield, Delkia’s chief executive, said: “It is a great success to move into this huge production facility and bring our manufacturing and engineering expertise together under one roof. This next chapter in Haydock will create exciting new opportunities for innovation and continue to build a strong future and drive success together.”

Delkia’s investment in the local area will also create new opportunities for skilled employment and strengthen local supply chains.

The team has already begun building relationships with the local community, including supporting St Helens mental health group No Duff UK CIC, and hosting a special event for Liverpool and Greater Manchester Air Cadets.

David Baines, MP for St Helens North, added: “Delkia is a proud, family-owned British company. They are clear about the benefits of being based here in Haydock, both in terms of its connectivity to the transport network, but also, more importantly, the opportunity to tap into the talent we have in the local and regional economy. They are already linking with local charities and with the education sector as they develop their apprenticeship and graduate programmes.

“The defence sector is vitally important to our economy and, of course, our national security, and I am proud to welcome such an outstanding company to our local area.”
