Buckingham manufacturer boosts production with new investment
A Buckingham manufacturer is ramping up its production capabilities in response to growing demand from the construction and fit-out sectors.
QIC Trims, an interior systems manufacturer, produces metal components for major projects, including Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena and Gymshark’s Solihull headquarters. It has now invested in a new state-of-the-art powder coating paint line, which cuts waste, speeds up production and removes harmful chemicals from its processes.
The upgraded system recovers and reuses up to 90% of powder coating material, halves the time needed to switch colours, and recycles water, saving an average of 1,000 litres of water a week. This has boosted production efficiency, resulting in faster turnaround times for clients and less waste overall.
With more than three decades of industry experience, QIC specialises in aluminium trims, partition systems, and bespoke architectural metalwork for architects, contractors and installers. This increased production capability is central to helping customers in construction and fit-out meet tight project timelines, without compromising on quality or design.

Additionally, the new line uses a chrome-free process. This switch removes the use of the harmful chemical hexavalent chromium ahead of new UK and EU rules and helps future-proof production while giving customers greater confidence around safety and compliance. It also creates a more consistent coating quality and colour precision across every order, helping customers achieve the high design standards expected in modern fit-outs across a range of venues, from Nike’s Westfield store to LSE’s Holborn campus.
QIC Trims designs and produces all products in-house, with the company’s team of CAD designers and production specialists working closely with customers to create tailored solutions in any size, shape or finish.
The investment has been supported by an Asset Finance package from Lloyds, which has worked with QIC Trims for several years as the business has expanded. The latest funding has seen QIC enhance its production capabilities, further strengthening its reputation for rapid delivery and bespoke design.
Looking ahead, the increased flexibility and capability of the new paint line technology will allow QIC to introduce a range of new product lines, expanding beyond its core offerings
Peter Jones, managing director at QIC Trims, said: “Our business is built on precision, quality and service – delivering exactly what our customers need, when they need it. This new paint line allows us to take that even further, improving efficiency while cutting waste and operating more safely.
“The support from Lloyds has been instrumental in helping us invest with confidence in the future of our production and our people. The upgrades will be a key step in maintaining the high standards our customers expect, as we continue to scale operations and expand our product offering.”
Mike Hemmings, relationship manager at Lloyds, added: “It’s fantastic to see our long-standing customers, like QIC Trims, really focused on growth and innovation. Peter and his team are leaders in their field and have built a strong reputation in their sector by combining expert craftsmanship with a desire to push boundaries.
“Rather than standing still, the business is pushing ahead to stay at the forefront of interior systems innovation. The introduction of its new dry‑paint system marks an exciting milestone, demonstrating how well‑timed investment can unlock growth and enable more customers to benefit from cleaner, faster and more efficient finishing solutions.”
