Our client is a energy based services organisation operating within the industrial services sector. As a medium-sized company, they focus on delivering high-quality energy assets and maintaining a strong presence in their industry.
Job Description
• Full P&L responsibility; accountable for meeting commercial and operational financial targets.
• Lead delivery of our clients obligations under the SA, ensuring all plant-related contracts (O&M, feedstock, PPA, etc.) are performing to terms.
• Chair regular performance reviews (weekly/monthly) with O&M and service providers.
• Set and reinforce a high-performance culture on site with clear operating disciplines.
• Maintain and actively manage the plant risk register across safety, operations, contracts, and reputation.
• Build and maintain long-term, productive working relationships with:Subcontractors
– Fuel suppliers and hauliers
– Local authorities, SEPA, and regulators
– Grid operators, PPA counterparties, and insurers
– Financial stakeholders and advisors
• Lead the cultural transformation of the site – establishing a reputation for stability, safety, and professionalism.
• You will be within a commuting distance of Central Belt Scotland but will also be happy to travel to other assets throughout the UK and potentially globally.
The Successful Applicant
A successful General Manager should have:
• A proven track record in managing operations within an industrial services organisations, for example biomass, EfW, Power Generation or similar thermal infrastructures
• Track record managing multiple counterparties and subcontracted service models.
• Familiarity with UK environmental, regulatory, and grid frameworks (e.g. SEPA, emissions compliance, permit conditions).
• The ability to develop and execute strategic plans effectively.
• Experience in managing budgets and achieving financial goals.
• Strong commercial literacy and ability to manage contracts, resolve disputes, and drive performance.
• A focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
• Exposure to turn arounds of distressed assets would be beneficial.
