As part of the new cases materials handling line, a new pallet inserter and strapper will be installed. Board24 has a proven partnership with Dücker Group & Signode, who are supplying the equipment, having worked on previous installations at both the Coalville and Preston sites, providing familiarity of equipment to the operators and maintenance team.

A state of the art Haloila Octopus automatic rotary ring stretch wrapper has also been installed to maximise productivity during operating periods. It incorporates the latest technology and the renowned Octopus ring type method of wrapping pallets in film ready for despatch.

Richard McBride, Managing Director of Board24 said: “These upgrades, to the way in which we process our finished goods, were essential to ensure our productivity remains at optimum levels and to give us the capacity for further growth and increased efficiencies. This renowned wrapping system was entirely compatible with both our current and new materials handling equipment and will ensure product is wrapped with ease, simplicity and speed.”

Additional benefits that the Haliola Octopus Compact delivers include a throughput of up to 130 pallets per hour and low maintenance requirements due to its solid construction and long lasting parts. Its ‘S’ style feed offers greater efficiencies and stretch over traditional ‘W’ style machines and its versatility ensures varying sizes of pallets and other demands can be met with ease.

The company has worked alongside Dücker to adapt the required layout and framework for the site.  The new pallet inserter and stretch wrapper allows for various pallet patterns, more cleanliness during operation and consistent strap tensions for safe transportation. The pallet inserter enables pallets to be centralised with pre-folding base sheets improving pallet presentation.

Richard added, “An efficient production line necessitates that all components deliver the greatest of efficiencies and that each element can perform to the standards required to meet production targets and customer demands. This latest addition to the machinery portfolio at Coalville will only serve to reinforce our position as one of the leading board manufacturers in the UK.”
