Work starts on £30m Task Consumer Products facility
Work has begun on a £30m redevelopment for Wolverhampton-based Task Consumer Products. Task is one of the UK’s largest independent paper converters and specialises in manufacturing and distributing market-leading soft tissue products, including toilet tissue, kitchen towels and hand towels. It employs more than 120 full-time staff.
Commercial property developer Stoford will deliver the c.210,000 sq ft scheme, which will expand Task’s operations within a single 18-acre site at Citygate Park. It comprises an 83,500 sq ft extension to Task’s existing premises and an adjacent new-build development of c.125,000 sq ft.
Its new headquarters will deliver purpose-built warehousing and distribution space, and support existing and expanded lines of production. When complete, it is expected to create up to 50 new jobs.
Stoford has appointed Benniman as the main contractor for the redevelopment. It is carrying out remediation works on the brownfield site and has already completed the demolition of a vacant building to create space for the new unit. The project is expected to be completed in August 2025.

Nikul Patel, director at Task, said: “We are very pleased to see that the main build works are progressing well. This development is central to our company’s growth and expansion plans and will deliver the additional space we need to increase production and streamline our operations. It’s an exciting chapter and we look forward to seeing our vision come to life.”
Dan Gallagher, joint managing director of Stoford, added: “It’s exciting to see the start of construction work on site. This is a multi-phased project, on land which was historically used for landfill, so we’ve had to carry out extensive remediation and demolition works in readiness for the new development. Task’s commitment to investing in the site is positive news for the city of Wolverhampton, securing its future in the region and creating employment opportunities for local people. The development also reinforces Stoford’s commitment to Wolverhampton and the wider Staffordshire county too.”
