Four-millionth Nissan Qashqai built in the UK
Nissan Qashqai has surpassed four million sales in Europe, reinforcing its position as one of the region’s most successful SUVs.
Every European Qashqai is the result of collaboration between Nissan teams across the UK and continental Europe. The vehicle is designed at Nissan Design Europe in London, engineered at Nissan Technical Centre Europe in Cranfield and Barcelona, and manufactured at Nissan’s Sunderland plant.
Since its introduction in 2006, Qashqai has become one of Nissan’s greatest success stories. Across three generations, Qashqai has evolved to meet changing customer expectations, introducing innovations such as e-POWER hybrid technology that have helped keep it at the forefront of the SUV segment. The Qashqai has also received more than 110 international awards, including 20 Car of the Year awards across different countries, confirming its continued success and reliability.

To celebrate the four million sales milestone, engineers at Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) have developed a tech video series for customers wanting to get the most out of their Qashqai.
The series ‘Wait, My Qashqai Does What…?’ highlights a range of features that drivers may not be using to their full potential. Each video provides practical tips, helping customers better understand the technologies that have contributed to Qashqai’s success. Topics include personalising driver assist settings, simplifying parking manoeuvres, maximising the flexibility of the luggage area, and making the most of the Nissan Intelligent Key.

Massimiliano (Max) Messina, chairperson for Nissan’s Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania region, said: “Reaching four million happy customers across Europe is an incredible milestone for Qashqai and reflects the innovation, dedication and craftsmanship of our design, engineering, and manufacturing teams, as well as the trust and loyalty that our customers have placed in the vehicle.
“Over the years, Qashqai has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of drivers and families across Europe. This achievement is not just about sales. There are over four million customers choosing Qashqai and enjoying the confidence, comfort, and technology it brings to their everyday lives. We remain committed to developing technologies that make driving experience safer, easier and more enjoyable for all.”
Nissan employs around 7,000 people across the UK, including at its design centre in Paddington, London, and its R&D engineering centre in Cranfield, while Sunderland is home to the UK’s biggest single car plant, which builds two of the nation’s best-selling cars – the Juke and Qashqai.
