Darren Robson, Chairman of Advanced Diesel Engineering, said: “We’ve been looking for additional manufacturing facilities for some time now so it’s great that we were able to act quickly and secure the purchase of the new Rotherham site. The new site will increase our manufacturing capability and allows us to focus on building generator enclosures in Pontefract, move the production of switchgear enclosures to Hellaby and recruit additional staff locally to support the expansion. It’s great that Barclays has been able to support these plans with funding and they have been our trusted partner to complete on the deal and deliver the next phase of our growth plans.”

Advanced Diesel Engineering employs over 120 staff locally in Pontefract with a further 80 roles expected to be created at the new Rotherham site. Turnover for the current year is expected to exceed £25 million.

Oliver Whitehurst, Barclays Relationship Director, added: “It’s been very rewarding working with Darren and his team and I know they have big plans to take the business to the next level. The new funding from our Northern Powerhouse fund will enable the company to reach new markets, increase overseas trade and we’re delighted to be able to support Advanced Diesel Engineering in their growth.”
