Ideal Heating hits production milestone of British-built boilers
Ideal Heating has celebrated a major production milestone in the history of its successful Logic boiler. Since its launch in 2009, five million Logic boilers have been manufactured and installed in homes across the UK. All five million Logic boilers have been manufactured at Ideal Heating’s main site in Hull.
Ideal Heating’s headquarters in Hull is currently undergoing a £60m investment programme, as the company gears up for the next exciting chapter in its 100-plus-year history. The business has laid out ambitious plans to ramp up heat pump production in Hull. To facilitate that, production, distribution and warehouse facilities on the site have been expanded and upgraded.
Accompanying the investments made in production is a commitment to both research and development and training. Ideal Heating will next year open its state-of-the-art £19m UK Technology Centre in Hull, which will serve as a testbed for low carbon heating innovation.

The very first Logic boiler was manufactured at Ideal Heating’s National Avenue site in Hull fifteen years ago, in 2009. Fast forward five years, and Ideal Heating celebrated one million Logic boilers with its team in Hull. By 2020, three million Logic boilers had been assembled and installed in homes across country. That number had risen to four million just two years later in 2022.
Now, Ideal Heating has celebrated five million Logic boilers – a remarkable achievement for a manufacturer which has been rooted in Hull for more than a century. The Logic boiler has underpinned Ideal Heating’s recent business success, and played a key role in the manufacturer being honoured with three Queen’s Awards for Enterprise – one in 2013 for innovation, and two in 2019 for innovation and international trade. Ideal Heating said the five millionth boiler has a special commemorative gold label and the gas engineer who finds it will receive it for free, in celebration of the important production milestone.

Luke Pykett, head of marketing at Ideal Heating, said: “We’re celebrating five million Logic boilers with the installers who have played a huge role in making Logic the household name it has become today. As a UK manufacturer, we’re incredibly proud to have achieved such a significant milestone for our Logic range. It’s become a huge success story and a symbol of our status as the UK’s heating market leader.”
With the upcoming ban on gas boilers in new homes from 2025 and the government’s target of 600,000 heat pump installations by 2028, Ideal Heating is intensifying both the production and distribution of heat pumps from its National Avenue headquarters. Furthermore, the full ban on gas boilers by 2035 – potentially even earlier under new government directives – requires Ideal Heating to rapidly overhaul its entire business model and product portfolio.
