Little Moons opens new £3.5m mochi factory

Family-run dessert brand Little Moons is expanding its operations in the UK with the opening of a new £3.5m mochi making factory.

Little Moons introduced the UK to the mochi bite ten years ago and has experienced exceptional growth in recent years. The new London factory will increase production four-fold to meet the current demand from trade customers and retailers globally, enable the creation of different lines for gluten free and vegan, and support future innovation.

Over the next few years, the new factory will allow Little Moons to create a further 150 new job opportunities from graduate level through to senior executive across a range of functions.

Howard Wong, founder of Little Moons, said: “The world has embraced the mochi and more recently our cookie dough ice cream bites. Our expansion reflects the increasing demand for mochi’s from both retailers and trade and will enable us to accelerate innovation which is super exciting.”

Vivien Wong, founder of Little Moons, added: “When you start a food business the first thing people tell you is to outsource production. Well, we didn’t and it was a great decision as we have full control over the innovation process, quality control and flexibility. We have a highly skilled team and we are looking forward to bringing on more local talent to continue developing our wonderful products for the world to enjoy. Everyone deserves a mochi moment.”
