Nestle and R&R Ice Cream confirm new joint venture

Nestle and R&R Ice Cream have confirmed they are to create a new company following the agreement of a joint venture.

The new company will be called Froneri and will have headquarters based in the UK, along with sites in 22 countries across the world. Expected sales should top the £2.3bn mark with around 15,000 people employed globally according to sources. Froneri will specialise in the production of ice cream, chilled dairy products and frozen food.

The agreement was announced earlier this year as ‘an exciting growth opportunity’ combining specific expertise from both companies in production, distribution and brand promotion and has subsequently gone through the necessary regulatory clearances.

The new leadership team will combine expertise from both firms including Luis Cantarell, Nestlé’s Executive VP for EMEA and former R&R CEO Ibrahim Najafi, who will become the CEO of Froneri.

Nestle and R&R Ice Cream have won a string of awards in recent years, recognising both their products and efficient manufacturing processes, along with awards for sustainability and workforce investment.
