Tobermore opens new £10m factory
Concrete paving and walling manufacturer, Tobermore, has opened its new state-of-the-art production facility in County Londonderry. The £10m factory is now operational and has significantly increased manufacturing capacity as the company responds to a surge in market demand for its hard landscaping products.
Earlier this year, Tobermore announced a £30m investment and the creation of 95 jobs to fulfil ambitious growth plans over the next four years. The new facility forms part of this investment.
The new plant has a gross internal floor area (GIFA) of 4416m2 and has created dozens of local jobs across many departments including production, despatch sales and administration. This is Tobermore’s fourth block paving manufacturing facility and is projected to increase production capacity by over 30%.
Tobermore prides itself on investing in world-class machinery that produces products of unrivalled quality. The latest factory houses another HESS block paving machine which guarantees quality and efficiency. Widely regarded as the ‘best paving and walling plant in the world’, Tobermore has welcomed manufacturers from all over the globe to see its outstanding plant first-hand.
David Henderson, managing director of Tobermore, said: “I am extremely proud that our new factory is now operational. This is an astonishing achievement! This new plant will give us significant increased capacity to make another one million square metres of block paving per year.
“Amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic, where many firms are struggling, we recognise how fortunate we are to be able to undertake this level of capital investment and job creation. We are already looking forward to 2021 when we will be able to take huge amounts of new business on board.”
