Vanners to invest in new multi-million pound factory

Vanners – the Sudbury-based silk manufacturer – has announced a multi-million pound investment in the future of its business with the construction of a new purpose-built factory, equipped with the latest technology.

The new facility, which will be designed by award-winning architects BRL, will replace its current home at Gregory Mills in Sudbury and will incorporate all of its manufacturing, including dyeing, weaving and tie making functions, enabling the firm to remain a fully vertical operation.

The new factory will be built in Sudbury and the firm anticipates the build to take 12 to 18 months, after which time it will leave its Gregory Mills site, which it has agreed to sell.

Vanners will be engaging with members of the public and local council throughout the process, and will shortly appoint a panel within its business, across multiple roles, who will be responsible for the development of its new factory.

Tro Manoukian, chief executive of Vanners, said: “This is a monumental day for Vanners and we look forward to keeping you all up to date with our progress.”
