Case Study: How robots are helping to solve skills and labour challenges

There are currently several challenges for Irish manufacturing. Skills shortages and an aging engineering profile are real issues. Manufacturers and services suppliers alike are finding it difficult to access, train and maintain skilled engineers across all disciplines. Add to this supply chain shortages and COVID restrictions and it’s easy to see how efficiencies are impacted. Controlsoft has designed and manufactured an automated cell, comprising robots from KUKA’s AGILUS range, that handles, and packs syringes intended for use in the veterinary sector. The cell satisfies several challenges that have arisen as a result of depleting skilled labour pools.
