The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story – created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Chief Programme Engineer. The purpose of the role is to oversee a specific large-scale programme in the Construction and Infrastructure sector. This programme represent a significant challenge to deliver within the agreed time frame and will involve managing the delivery of multiple resources spread across many areas. There is also a need for stakeholder management by the Chief Programme Engineer with internal teams and suppliers.
Duties and responsibilities of the Chief Programme Engineer include:
Programme Leadership for all aspects of Construction large scale project including strategic delivery, tactical deliverables, broad technical oversight, stake holder management (both internally and externally), risk management and cost.
Ensuring the Programme adheres to its strategic objectives and roadmap for the customer and internally within MTC.
Installing a process for monitoring and successfully delivering of drum beat of deliverables with a direct accountability for quality, cost and OT, also accountable for financial claims to the funding source
Challenging the technical team to deliver their technical task within the scope of the project. With broad experience to challenge quality of technical delivery and steer the team (Technical Quality is the ultimate accountability of specific MTC Technical Authority)
Stakeholder Management of participating members and management of MTC internal Stakeholders. Able to use experience to secure MTC spin off opportunities where appropriate.
Close financial management of work stream ensuring on-cost delivery at the appropriate spend rate managing expectations
The Chief Programme Engineer will have / be:
Experience in taking accountability for either large team delivery (managing Managers) or demonstrated significant thought leadership and business level road-map deployment.
Confident communicator at all business levels.
Can demonstrate management courage by driving change or significant challenges to the status quo
Able to coach and mentor staff from a wide cross-section of the business.
Bachelors degree in an Engineering or scientific discipline Prior experience working on significant project delivery >£5M. Industrial Programme Management experience.
Experience with high MRL projects requiring high process capability. Senior Management of project teams
