Hays is proud to exclusively partnering with Epson. This globally recognised brand is seeking an Engineering Manager to be responsible for Engineering and Quality at their Telford manufacturing facility.

This is a new role and key to recent restructuring and succession planning. You will have full responsibility for all on-site Engineering and Quality processes and will play an instrumental part in driving success, improving output/quality and increasing productivity with responsibility over a team of 45 plus engineers, technicians and quality professionals.

On a day to day basis you will provide Engineering leadership by organising the team in line with the key business priorities. You will identify operational improvements, anticipate challenges, and create competitive progress by strengthening engineering decision-making.

Responsibility for staff within the Maintenance/Engineering and Quality department.
Offer functional leadership to support capital projects across the site.
Ensure all production machinery, plant, building and equipment on site are maintained through the electrical / mechanical and utilities teams.
Drive OEE/productivity improvements across all processes.
Identifying improvements in existing work practices and systems.
Ensure that health and safety regulations are always met.
Develop execute improve all Quality related processes with emphasis on continuous improvement, defect and compliance business processes.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the experience and capabilities to develop and train all of the engineering/quality team, to achieve and maintain high performance. You will drive a culture mind-set of continuous improvement and encourage best practice activities across the site by working in alignment with process engineering. Maintain staff requirements by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; keeping a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities via kaizen and industry specific training; are other key aspects of the role.

You will develop and implement clear and effective PM’s and schedules by using data to identify prioritise and improve maintenance activity while also implementing improvement, maintaining quality services by enforcing quality and standards. Analysis to resolve quality issues and identify trends for recommending of system improvements will also be key. You will establish strategic goals by gathering appropriate business, financial, service, and operations information. From this Identifying and evaluating trends to choose a course of action. You will achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances and initiating corrective actions.

The client requires an experienced leader of people who is Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline who has experience in both general engineering maintenance and project management in a fast paced, high technology and complex environment. To lead the quality team you will have experience of building Quality Assurance Procedures and culture. You will possess knowledge in areas of automation, preventative and planned maintenance scheduling and have developed and implemented continuous improvement programmes as well as being able to evidence management of staff budget control and awareness of Kaizen techniques.
