Engineering Manufacturing Manager

My client in the Dundee area who are a leading manufacturer looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Maintenance Manager to join their team. This is a senior role within their business therefore an expert knowledge of leading a team of multi-skilled mechanical and electrical engineers, developing and implementing systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and executing long-term strategic plans is essential.

Position
• Be responsible for leading and developing a well-established, multi-skilled team of engineers and be responsible for day-to-day people management, including delegating and coordinating tasks, coaching, mentoring, change management, recruitment and performance management using SMART objectives
• Develop safety initiatives, set standards and implement best practice for all engineering activities to improve performance and create a zero-accident culture
• Optimise machine availability through planned/ preventative/ predictive maintenance and through responsive reactive maintenance in the event of unplanned breakdowns
• Provide professional advice and support to internal departments concerning technical and engineering issues and provide reports and quantitative data on completion of planned work and any agreed KPI’s
• Be a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and it’s associated activities including delivery of the annual engineering budget, improving safety performance, capital expenditure, cost improvements and training
• Ensure effectiveness of maintenance activities in accordance with production and quality standards as well as in compliance with internal and external audits, internal policies and legal requirements (environment, health and safety)
• Cost, select and organise external contractors and specialists
• Introduce and implement systems and processes, including an inventory for spares SOP’s, work rotas/schedules, work instructions etc.

Profile
Technical Background
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (electrical or mechanical) preferred, or demonstrable equivalent experience
• Experience gained in a continuous manufacturing operations
• Strong IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Broad background in previous maintenance management roles
• Demonstrated improvements in maintenance KPI’s driven by continuous improvement, and change management processes implemented by the applicant
