Job Description
The Manufacturing Manager is required to lead, manage and develop the production team in Somerset and to represent the Company at a tactical and strategic management level. They will be required to lead and manage organisational change delivering operational excellence from all areas of the production workforce and to help define the operational strategy, procedures and processes to result in high quality, on time, cost effective and profitable manufacture of both internal and external company products. The Manufacturing Manager will support new and ongoing development of new products and processes in order to maintain competitive advantage, forging positive links with other departments and proactively driving continuous improvements. They will also positively reflect the values and represent the company to key internal and external stakeholders and customers.

The Successful Applicant
Requirements:

Engineering degree preferable, or, HNC / HND in a manufacturing or engineering discipline
Successful track record leading and motivating people within production environments
Formal training in lean and/or six sigma improvement approaches.
Ability to lead and drive change.
Knowledge of a range of manufacturing practices. Desirable experience; CNC machining, Electro-Discharge Machining, Lapping, Polishing, Plating, Vacuum Coating, Mechanical Inspection.
Aptitude toward basic materials science, physics, chemistry and metallurgy would be an advantage.
Ability to effectively communicate with customers and other external stake holders.
