Michael Page are working exclusively with a market leading, North Derbyshire based SME engineering service provider. The organisation offers a unique, turnkey service across design, manufacture, installation and aftercare. A true M&E specialist, they are expanding internationally further to successful periods of growth within the UK and, as a result, are looking for an ambitious Operations Director to drive further domestic growth and develop the organisations offering.
Job Description
Reporting into the Managing Director and owner, the successful Operations Director will lead the design, manufacturing, engineering and commercial teams tasked with streamlining existing systems and processors whilst growing the turnover of the UK operation. You will lead all major projects working closely with the customer base to ensure delivery and commercial return.
The role will provide M&E engineering leadership whilst developing the manufacturing strategy of the organisation. As the business grows this role will work closely with, and deputise for, the Managing Director with long term progression opportunity into that role.
Other day to day responsibility will include:
• Managing all engineering activities where the company is identified as principle contractor
• Work with the Directors agreeing targets, pricing, generating sales enquiries and identifying new business opportunities
• Ensuring the business operates a progressive supply chain with strong agent and contractor relationships
• Provide a strategic and tactical input – market-driven – into the other functional marketing operations
• Drive the companies approach to project management developing approaches to ensure best in class delivery
• Create, agree and implement strategy
• Build a structure to facilitate growth & succession
The Successful Applicant
The successful Operations Director will possess a range of the following:
• A proven and demonstrable background in M&E project delivery
• A relevant technical qualification – HNC Minimum
• Technically competent with commerciality at the forefront of their delivery
• An ability to work as part of a small, agile structure
• A hands-on approach to running a business
• A strong business acumen with an entrepreneurial approach
• A passion to improve and enhance an already capable engineering team
• Experience in delivering as principle contractor or similar
• An ability to manage a complex operation including design, manufacturing and installation / delivery
• A strong communicator who is comfortable in reporting directly to the MD/Owner of the business
