A Global Privately owned manufacturing organisation, they are a leader in their field who supply their products in to multiple sectors.

Job Description
Oversees core production processes (fabrication, supply chain, engineering) and production schedules ensuring efficiency and cost-effective planning
Leads successful multi-functional teams to achieve business results through Quality, Cost and Delivery
Establishes manufacturing priorities and allocates resources to meet or exceed KPI’s for efficiency and operational performance (Safety, OTD, COPQ, Cost Savings, OEE, etc.)
Maintains standard operating procedures for all production operations and where improvements are needed, takes ownership in changing, developing, and implementing (said) improvements
Ensures alignment of the manufacturing organisation to the company’s vision, purpose and overarching strategic initiatives (near-term, mid-term and long-term)
Develops and tracks improvement in planned labour hours vs. actual and impacts on product costing
Reviews BOMs and associated product costings with finance and engineering teams to determine validity and accuracy of ACTUAL costs vs. estimated costs moving towards establishing a costing “standards” system
Ensures compliance with environmental, health and safety policies, systems and processes
Ensure first pass quality meets or exceeds planned goals and continually monitors deviations and institutes (course) corrections using root-cause analysis and follow up communications to avoid re-occurrence
Tracks and communicates major deviations or issues to broader team(s)
Ensures prescribed line maintenance and equipment up-keep is recorded and completed on-time
Compliance to prescribed QMS, GMP’s and 5S processes looking at CI (Continuous Improvement) initiatives as opportunities to “get better”
Manages the manufacturing operation consistent with and adhering to company operating guidelines
Evaluates and assesses manufacturing operations staffing and skill requirements developing and recommending plans to address gaps and/or needs
Establishes individual and team accountability using coaching and support as part of the performance management process

The Successful Applicant
As the Operations Director you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

Ideally Degree Qualified or equivalent in an engineering discipline
You will be able to demonstrate a successful track record gained in Operations or Plant Management, preferable in an assembly bespoke manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other members of the global organisation
Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management
Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands
Solid understanding of annual budgeting process as well as strategic planning processes and components
Excellent communication, leadership and decision-making skills
Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics using business/management information systems and software (SAP, ERP, MRP, CRM) to support a data-driven approach to working
Inherent ability to continually challenge the status quo along with a “can do” approach to positive change
Ability to manage and communicate effectively in a (corporate) matrix environment
Ability to work closely with suppliers and customers as required.
