Application date: 2nd Mar 2018
There are change programmes that are critical to short term business survival and there are change programmes that are critical to growth and achieving business objectives. This role is the latter.
As a manufacturer with a good market share and a good reputation this business will continue to trade as they are in the next few years, but they are standing still. They need someone that can allow them to go forward.
The real challenge in this is harnessing the people’s passion for the business and taking the business manufacturing operations from ok to excellent.
The successful candidate will need to be a coach, a mentor, a leader, a manager, a teacher and a friend.
You will need to understand manufacturing practices throughout the supply chain, identifying improvements and working with the team to empower them to make change, providing the knowledge and the tools. A Six Sigma Black Belt isn’t necessary – that would be a sledge hammer to crack a nut. The improvement mind set however is crucial, not just in implementation but in the cultural and psychological implications.
You should also have the commercial awareness to understand the financial consequences of your decisions.
We all know operations and manufacturing professionals are always looking for a challenge, something that they can genuinely improve and make their mark on. This is that role. Its’s a huge challenge.
The company is a high volume continuous process SME supplying the construction industry.
