This business is a global market leader in the supply of complex production line capital equipment providing yield improvement technologies. Their machinery is well known for high quality and reliability.
Competing with economies the world over it’s often asked if their production wouldn’t be more efficient in lower cost countries, but it’s not. Their efficiency is incredible. Their supply chain is slick, and their quality and lead time metrics are phenomenal. Despite such good manufacturing performance this role isn’t a caretaker position, there are still improvements and challenges, herein lies the biggest challenge, how to improve something that is already excellent.
Given the context the successful candidate must have expert knowledge in lean and agile manufacturing. They must be a shop floor leader. Someone that loves being in the middle of it all (literally as your desk will be in the middle of the factory). Someone that can instinctively spot improvement opportunities both across assembly and supply chain, sometimes they may be conventional but often they will be innovative, or perhaps maverick in their approach. You also be able to lead and influence, do the day to day stuff but also do the strategy. You’ll be a lifelong learner and a teacher and coach at the same time.
