Job Description
As the Operations Manager, you will be managing a multifunctional team, driving operational excellence by instilling a continuous improvement & safety culture. You will be part of the senior management team & will be the link between several areas of the business, ensuring collaborative working. This is an opportunity to be the driving force behind their operational improvement plan & lead the training & development of the operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• To lead, manage & direct the Operations team, to ensure the efficient manufacturing operation & a continuous improvement environment
• Manage & maintain the group’s strategic objectives, budgets & KPIs
• Implementation of manufacturing improvement methodologies
• Ensure production meets demand requirements while integrating the S&OP process to meet inventory requirements
• Overseeing quality systems to ensure specifications & product expectations are met in a cost-effective manner
• Work closely with the Environment, Health & Safety Manager to ensure all operations on site are in accordance with the EH&S expectations & the local / national regulating authorities
• Develop & implement operating methods & procedures designed to reduce or eliminate operating problems & improve product cost, quality, delivery performance & customer satisfaction
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement & drive improvement initiatives (e.g. 6S, waste reduction & cost reduction projects)
• Use methods such as LEAN to reduce overall costs of production & levels of waste, whilst increasing OTIF & meeting all quality criteria
• Ensure close cooperation with all internal customers (e.g. Sales, Finance)
• Identify CAPEX & investment opportunities & support project implementation
• Create an environment of employee engagement, training & succession to create a high performance, motivated work culture & continuous improvement environment
The Successful Applicant
An Operations Manager with significant end to end Batch Manufacturing experience & the following:
• Degree level qualification or extensive equivalent experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
• Experience managing a cross functional & multi-discipline team
• Experience of implementing continuous improvement manufacturing techniques (e.g. 5S/6S, lean, Six Sigma etc.)
• Formal HSE qualifications/HSE awareness
• A proactive approach & with a high level of analytical & interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication & negotiation skills at all levels
• Strong team player, who has demonstrated ability to coach & develop reports to deliver their maximum potential
