My Client is a global automotive components manufacturer and the world’s largest producer of automotive parts. The Company operates internationally supplying components to many of the leading car manufactures in Asia, Europe and the USA.
The role:
The Plant Operations Director will provide strategic direction for the site, whilst ensuring that all operations are safe, Quality focused and efficient. Through providing the right guidance and leadership, the Plant Operations Director will be able to lead the plant to its full potential in terms of people and profitability whilst ensuring alignment with core values.
The Plant Operations Director is a key member of the Senior Management Team and is responsible for all aspects of manufacturing strategy and operation. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role holder is expected to lead and motivate their team of Operations Managers. Striving for continuous improvement they will realise the strategic Goals and Objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
Key responsibilities of the Plant Operations Director:
Provide leadership, engagement, direction and vision, inspiring Associates to deliver exceptional levels of performance
Plan, organise and direct the manufacturing operation to minimise manufacturing costs through effective utilisation of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital
Develop the site strategy to align with Group goals and objectives
Deliver cost benefits through Kaizen
Critically review and monitor operating results, managing spend against budget in relation to changes in production volumes and making recommendations for improvement
Champion ‘Safety First’ philosophy and play a lead role promoting a culture of behavioural safety across the site.
Have a thorough understanding of customer requirements and drive Quality with an ownership mindset (PPM KPI)
Lead and promote the digital transformation and level up digital capability
Support and drive the HRD Development Pathway
Drive a collaborative culture, ensuring that all departments and functions are aligned
Build, lead, motivate and develop the site Manufacturing Operations Team
About You:
Proven track record of operational leadership
BSc in business administration, engineering, logistics, supply chain or relevant field
Experience of high volume, high complexity manufacturing
Strong strategic and commercial thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A strong commercial awareness, being data rational, able to set effective targets that are achievable to meet goals and objectives.,
High level of numerical and analytical ability
Detailed knowledge of P&L, sales, operational management, supply chain, OEM customer KPI’s.
Desirable:
Experience of Toyota Production System/ Lean Management Techniques/ Kaizen.
Experience of Digital Transformation (DX) within a manufacturing context.
