The Principal Engineer Digital Manufacturing will join a team to assist in delivery of innovation support activities in the areas of digital manufacturing and materials and manufacturing. The aim is to de-risk and accelerate innovation in supply chain mid-caps and SMEs with the mission of “making more in the UK”.
What you will do
As Principal Engineer Digital Manufacturing;
• To provide broad ranging technical leadership, and project management, for the successful and timely delivery projects in the field of digital manufacturing or materials and manufacturing
• To develop and deliver interventions to SMEs; including business engagements, collaborative product and service development, collaborative research and development, project workshops and events and building innovation ecosystems
• To represent and be recognised as a credible expert in digital manufacturing or materials and manufacturing. To identify the challenges and needs faced by industry and to establish collaborative research and development activities
• To increase the uptake of collaborative R&D in the supply chain mid-caps and SMEs
• To be responsible for developing and delivering a range of manufacturing and technology related masterclasses
• To provide the leadership, and to develop, Innovation Managers and Technology Transfer Engineers
What you will need
As Principal Engineer Digital Manufacturing;
• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a business or technical subject
• Significant industrial experience in either digital manufacturing or materials and manufacturing
• The ability to provide technical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and researchers
• Extensive knowledge of own area of specialism, with sufficient confidence and ability to line manage individuals who are technical experts in other disciplines
• High level of self-motivation with ability to plan and deliver goals to deadlines
• Strong leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills
