A Production Manager is required to join an innovative aerospace manufacturing facility on a permanent basis. The successful Production Manager will join the Production Department reporting to and working closely with the General Manager. The organisation is split into Departments and Manufacturing Units that operate a four shift (four on/four off) system producing high tolerance components for the aerospace industry. The Production Manager will be assigned to a specific area to ensure efficient and effective running and operations. Some crossover and flexibility between departments may be required as necessary.

Responsibilities and Experience Required of the Production Manager

Adhere to all company Health and Safety Policy’s and Regulations
Contribute to the development of cost and quality targets for the manufacturing function
Proactively manage all aspects of the day to day operation of the
Manage the departmental budget and P&L account in order to achieve productivity
Take appropriate action to ensure the processes are aligned with the business needs
With guidance from the HR manage all aspects of human resources within the department
Conduct recruitment, training, development and motivation of team
Ensure effective succession planning and disciplinary processes are maintained
Develop and execute the 3-year departmental strategy
Develop the department to meet the future demands of the business
Embody the company continuous improvement program
Deploy lean and CI tools through a multi skilled team
Work closely with all other departments to ensure your team maximises performance
Manage the daily routines including Problem Solving Management (PSM) and meetings
Prepare and deliver presentations to all levels of the business
Ensure systems and reports are in place to provide accurate performance data
Analysis of data and act accordingly to respond to current and potential performance issues
Adhere to company values and site culture to ensure a transparent, honest team ethic
Ensure decisions are made based on facts and data and any expenditure
Ensure an acceptable return on investment and is in line with the strategic goals
Ensure direct reports effectively manage the performance/conduct/behaviour of their team
provide appropriate external and/or on the job training as necessary.
Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures by all employees within your area
Undertake any other duties/responsibilities as reasonably requested by Senior Management

Qualifications & Requirements of the Production Manager

GCSE Maths and English or equivalent (Grade C +)
Engineering qualification, HNC, degree etc is desirable
Management qualification e.g. Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)
Be computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft office
IOSH Managing Safely Certified desirable
Experience Working within a manufacturing environment
Ability to manage and lead a team
Project management Skills with a Customer focus
Strong working knowledge of industry standard lean and improvement techniques
Experience of managing a departmental P&L/budget
Work collaboratively with the ability to influence where necessary
Ability to work on own initiative and focused with attention to detail
Well-developed communication skills, e.g. able to present to groups and interact
Negotiation Skills and a Strong team player
A Strong work ethic to show Personal commitment
Organised and able to manage own workload

Basic security clearance may be required due to the nature of the products being manufactured
