We are working on behalf of one of the most diverse manufacturing companies in Europe looking to expand their West Midlands sites with the recruitment of an experienced Quality Manager. This is an excellent long-term opportunity to join an established British manufacturer with a history of investment and diversification at a point when they are succession planning and future proofing.
As an experienced Quality Manager, you will work with the Quality Management System todefine the Quality Expectations and provide the tools for quantitative quality analysis of performance against these goals. The Quality Manager will be involved with Management reviews which are held on a regular basis to identify quality improvements that can be made. The successful Quality Manager will be joining a family run business and will report to the Managing/Operations Director.
Quality Manager will be responsible for the following:
• Responsible for running quality, environmental & health & safety systems across the group.
• Instigate audits and approvals by relevant third party within agreed time frames.
• Day to day approval maintenance, implementation and internal audits.
• Being the support for customer audit, query, investigation and inspection issues.
• Adhere to the regulatory compliance to meet the quality standards.
• Liaison with Senior Management on quality issues and all related compliance requirements.
• Adapt Quality Management System for the business, to become compliant.
• Develop quality inspection methods to analyse product quality.
• Carefully maintain complaint and non-conformance (8D, ISO, etc).
• Manage QA documentation to final release under technical and quality standards.
• Collaborate and identify branch training needs and take action to ensure compliance.
• Respond to major customer complaints putting in containment actions.
• Report against quality metrics monthly – errors, complaints and credits.
• Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned.
• Pursue continuing education on new solutions, technologies, and skills.
• Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required to senior management.
• Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
The Quality Manager should have the following Qualifications Skills/Experience:
• Experience with internal/external audit and QA experience.
• Degree or HND, BTEC Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5.
• Experience in a high-volume distribution environment and FAIR/8-D/FMEA Skills.
• Experience of dealing directly with end users and suppliers.
• Teamwork ethics and a good attention to detail.
• Time management, able to prioritise and organise workloads effectively.
• Problem-solving mindset and having a can-do, positive approach.
• Able to multi task, having an awareness of time sensitive tasks.
• Good written and verbal communication and knowledge of quality standards.
• Relevant industrial operations and quality engineering experience.
• Very good understanding of manufacturing processes to support the business.
• Previous experience leading manufacturing audits and quality programs.
• Understanding of how quality practices can be applied to give a commercial advantage.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use of statistical models to ensure the capability.
• Experience of dealing with raw materials, particularly industrial specification metals.
• Good IT skills and experience with an ERP system would be useful.
