This role requires an individual who is both an engineer and a scientist, hence the technologist tag. It requires someone that loves innovation but that has the commercial acumen to understand how that innovation impacts customers and profit.
This is an automation business that sells their equipment and services to manufacturers on a global basis. Their machinery is not just materials handling but performs a function that is essential to the integrity of the end product.
As Technical Director you will have complete responsibility for product development, incorporating the mechanical, electrical and controls/software aspect of the equipment but also the chemistry of the consumable elements.
It is expected that you will develop the future technology road-map and align the offering with industry 4.0, developing and bringing to market next generation products.
The Candidate
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will need:
• Master’s degree or above in chemistry, material science of physics
• Experience in the development process of electro-mechanical products
• Knowledge of the patent process/invention disclosure
• Experience of polymer/adhesive chemistry
Candidates with the following would have an added advantage:
• PhD
• Qualifications in other engineering or science subjects
• Languages skills
• Previous experience of presenting at technical conferences
